Why I’m telling you this
I was making over $2,000 a month before I ever asked whether any of it was halal
Three years in marketing. Two of those building content for other people, mostly GCC clients. Alhamdulillah, it worked. Their brands grew. The views came.
And not once did I stop and ask what I was actually putting into the world.
Music in every edit. Women in the frames. Whatever the trend needed. It was just how the job was done, and I was good at it.
Then I met an old friend, and he said something in passing that I still haven’t been able to put down.
He was talking about sadaqah jariyah. How a good deed keeps giving after you’re gone. You build a well, and every person who drinks from it, that’s still yours. Years later. After you’re in the ground.
Then he said the thing.
It works the same way in the other direction.
If your video has music in it and it hits 300,000 views, those views don’t stop when you close the app. They keep going. Into your grave. One after another after another.
300,000. Non stop.
I had videos with millions.
I sat with that for a long time.
And the honest part is, I wasn’t even proud of that work. I was building other people’s brands while being too shy to build my own. I couldn’t show my face. I couldn’t talk to a camera. I thought that meant I had nothing to say.
So I deleted it. All of it. Millions of views, gone.
Started a brand new account with nothing.
11 days later it was at 10,000 followers.
Alhamdulillah. And I know exactly what that was. That was barakah, because nothing about my effort changed. Only what I refused to do changed.
And here’s what I didn’t expect. I still haven’t spoken to a camera. Not once. B-roll and storytelling did all of it. The thing I thought was disqualifying me was never the barrier.
Then it kept going.
That’s the part of my friend’s warning I didn’t understand at first. It works in both directions. A video with music keeps going after you close the app. So does a good one. Everything I’ve posted since is still out there, finding people while I sleep.
People started asking me to help with their marketing, the ethical kind, no music, no compromise. Brands came. People wanted 1:1. Meanwhile I was building websites and micro SaaS tools on the side, and those were bringing in thousands.
Opportunities started knocking that I never went looking for.

From where he does not expect. I lived that line this year.
My DMs are full of the same question now. How did you build this. What do I actually do first.
So I wrote down everything I did, in the order I did it, including the parts I got wrong. That’s this.

The difference a first line makes
Same story. Different first line.
Both of these went out from the same account, with the same phone, the same editing, the same amount of effort. The only thing that changed was how they opened.

Look at the follows, not the views. Four people, then 189. Eight people, then 7,272. Views are what everyone watches. Follows are what becomes an audience you own. Watch time went up both times too, 9 seconds to 11, 9 seconds to 14. The opening didn’t trick anyone into clicking. It gave them a reason to stay.
I got the first version wrong both times. The second version came from knowing what to fix, and that’s a much smaller thing to learn than people assume.

Building something that earns means getting five things right, in order. Miss one and the others never pay off.

Day 0
The Foundations
Before you post anything, you learn what actually makes someone stop scrolling. Hooks, formats, editing, and the psychology underneath all three. Most people skip this and spend three months guessing. You’ll know why a video works before you make it.
Days 1 to 21
Stage One: Create
Your positioning, your creator identity, and the content pillars you’ll build everything on. Then the engine itself, a system that answers “what do I post tomorrow” so you never open the app and freeze. This is also where you learn faceless content properly: b-roll, voiceover, screen recording, and building trust without oversharing a single thing you don’t want to share. By day 21 you’ve posted 21 times and you have a system, not a streak.
Days 22 to 42
Stage Two: Reach
Twenty hooks from one idea, and a way to test which ones actually land instead of guessing. Reels, carousels, stories, and knowing which one a message needs. A publishing rhythm you can hold. And reading your own numbers properly, so views stop being weather and start being feedback you can act on.
Days 43 to 56
Stage Three: Trust
Turning ordinary lived experience into stories people remember and repeat. Authority without pretending to be further ahead than you are. Turning one-way content into replies, DMs, and actual conversation. And building trust as a faceless creator through voice, consistency, and point of view, so people feel like they know you without ever seeing you.
Days 57 to 70
Stage Four: Own
Your first lead magnet, and the email list it fills. The automation that delivers it while you sleep. Your own landing page. By the end of this stage you can reach your audience directly, and an algorithm change stops being something that can end your business overnight.
Days 71 to 90
Stage Five: Earn
Finding what people will actually pay for, from your own content data and your own DMs, not from guessing. Choosing your path. Building the offer, then building the product. Launching it properly. And exactly what to do when nobody buys on day one, because that happens to almost everyone and it’s a solvable problem.

“Do I really never have to show my face?”
Correct, and it isn’t the lesser version. I built a 10,000 follower account in 11 days without speaking to a camera once. The whole system is faceless: b-roll, voiceover, screen recording, writing and visual identity. If you want to be on camera later, that’s covered too. It’s never required.
